I want you to know
Your power comes
Not from consuming the horrors
Out there.
Choosing sides,
Blaming other,
Creating other,
Upon command.

I want to whisper in your ear
That your power isn’t found
Hiding underneath the covers
In a cave,
Reading a romance novel,
Trying to find your romance novel.

Power arrives when you find the other within.
The villain,
The lover,
The victim.
All the pieces you’ve left behind.

All longing for things outside,
Is longing for those things inside,
And finding them,
The only true source of peace.
