The Higher Purpose of Manifestation

As a child, I practiced magic…a lot. I had a magic kit and I learned all the tricks. I watched “I Dream of Jeannie” and practiced crossing my arms and bobbing my head to get what I wanted. I wholeheartedly believed it would work.

It didn’t. 🙄

Undeterred, as an adult I practiced the Law of Attraction — read ALL the books, including the Secret, and did ALL the things to manifest my car, my new job, the myriad of desires that coursed through me.

As it turns out, I am a very desirous being. And also, VERY willful. 🙄

And then, there was a man. A man who was/is the love of my life, to this day. After my marriage ended, I met a man who changed the course of my life, and with whom I finally learned that when desire is NOT aligned, it won’t manifest. I spent 2 years trying to manifest a partnership with him using every tool I had learned, including magick.

And then, I gave up. I finally was willing to see what the Universe had to say about manifesting my desires.

It seems my life has been a study in creation, by learning every single way that does not work. And now, it seems that I am also finally learning how it does work. After studying quantum mechanics and falling in love with it as the intersection between science and spirituality, I think I am beginning to understand and embody the wise creator.

The biggest shift for me was from creating to co-creating. From dancing alone to leading the dance to sharing the lead.

And what I’m seeing is that manifestation has gotten a bad rap, for many good reasons. Many manifestation techniques, including the ones I have used in my past, actually reinforce our survival tendencies of getting attention and proving self-worth. In this way, the creation process can be a distraction from the soul’s path to the authentic self we are here to manifest.

As it turns out, the conditioned mind, where many of our desires originate, can rarely dream up a reality comparable to what the body can reveal by engaging with life directly as it is. The mind may be able to manipulate material into the forms we think we want but those manifestations are often what we have been conditioned to want. We may think we need that new car, job, romantic partner, or 100,000 followers on Instagram, but do we really? Where are these desires actually coming from?

My own journey has shown me that life always brings me what I need, even when it looks only vaguely like what I want. Only in retrospect can I see the wisdom of life, how the Universe improved upon my original desire.

In my process of supporting clients to deliberately create the lives they are truly meant to live, we first go on a powerful consciousness-expanding journey to identify an aligned desire. We then treat this desire as a living, breathing thing, allowing it to evolve as they do, allowing life to reveal the bigger possibilities unseen before. Through a gentle and iterative process, we remove the invisible barriers of conditioning that limits both what they can see as possible as well as what they can actually manifest. In the end, their destiny arrives and they are ready for it.
