THE STONE’S CONSENT OR WHY I LOVE QUANTUM MECHANICS
It’s because quantum mechanics IS the intersectionality between science and spirituality. And the reason I love that is because I have always KNOWN that the manufactured split between my mind and my soul is artificial. And the more I study quantum mechanics, the more that artificial split is revealed, and therefore healed.
Example: The notion of CONSENT. In my opinion, it is one of the most challenging concepts we wrangle with in our society. Science is a destroyer of consent by creating a subject/object relationship through the act of experimentation.
Meaning… I study IT.
When something or someone becomes an object, our relationship to it changes, and its consent is no longer as important. Because it becomes inferior to us, and we become detached from it. Sometimes unconsciously. This is one of the most stealthy and sinister tricks of the ego in creating superiority. The first step in most of the atrocities humans have committed on the planet, to her creatures and to each other requires this subtle shift.
From subject/subject to subject/object.
Supremely ironic it is, then, that the cutting edge of science, quantum mechanics, has revealed that the nature of reality and the universe is that when we look into the lens to study something, it is literally looking back at us. And not only that, but every single thing, down to the tiniest particle HAS AWARENESS. We are literally co-creating reality every second, with a universe that is AS CONSCIOUS as we are. This means there is no truly objective reality, as we’ve been taught.
This also reveals our subject/object perspective to be completely myopic and actually self-destructive. To continue to treat everything in the world, from stones to animals to trees to other humans, as objects rather than the alive beings that they are will surely result in our demise.
Of course, to shift to a subject/subject perspective would be catastrophic to the society we’ve created. Imagine assuming everything is animate and could give (or decline) consent. It’s called animism, and it’s how indigenous people viewed the world. It’s also how children naturally see the world.
Even the stone is capable of consent. Ask it if it wants to come home with you.
