WHAT IS A REGULATED NERVOUS SYSTEM, ANYWAY?!

We hear a lot these days about being self-regulated, about learning how to regulate our nervous system.

So I researched it. Because that is my snowflake superpower. 🙂

And what I discovered is that, for the most part, what is being taught about nervous system regulation is just controlling the body in an attempt to feel calmer. Bringing the body back to center, to neutral using coping mechanisms like breath, visualization, meditation, shaking.

All these actions INTERRUPT the body’s natural process for resolving the ORIGINS of emotional reactivity (aka triggers).

That means that yes, you will feel better in the moment, because you have dissipated the uncomfortable sensations in your body.

But what happens the next time you experience the same or similar trigger? You will experience the same reaction. You are sacrificing PERMANENT resolution for TEMPORARY relief.

In the same amount of time.

And, every time you interrupt the body’s natural process of resolving a trigger, you actually REINFORCE it. 🙁

So, we unknowingly put ourselves on a hamster wheel of reactivity for EVERY TRIGGER WE HAVE.

This is how triggers are running your life.

And this is only the triggers YOU ARE AWARE OF. There are usually more operating in the background of our lives. We unknowingly set our lives up to avoid experiencing these hidden fears.

Sounds exhausting and overwhelming, right?

It doesn’t have to be this way. At all. Instead of reinforcing triggers, you can resolve each one of them in about 3 minutes. The same time it probably takes you to do that breathing, that meditation, that shaking, that releasing.

I’d love to show you how. I am on a mission to liberate people from their triggers because I want to create a better world. And I know that starts with each of us at our maximum capacity to do what came here to do, be what we came here to be.

So, what is a regulated nervous system, anyway? It is not to be calm all the time, to feel detached from the events of life, to never be upset. To me, a regulated nervous system is our UNIQUE capacity to meet life fully, in the present moment without baggage from the past. To feel what we are meant to feel and to trust ourselves because we have integrated past stressful events. A regulated nervous system is CONGRUENT — fully present, in the moment.

If this interests you, I am teaching a workshop to permanently resolve your triggers that begins on Monday, February 27th.
